Popcat cat treats

Rise and Pop.

Popcat is one of the internet's best-loved cat memes. The brief was to turn it into something you can hold: a bag of adult cat treats. I took it from the product idea and the packaging to real, printed bags, filled and sealed.

i.The ideaA meme you can hold
Treats for adult cats

From a meme to a pantry

Popcat lives online, in videos and memes. The idea was to give its community something real: treats made for their own cats, in a bag that looks like it belongs to the same world as the meme.

3D mock-ups

Soft, warm and a little bit silly

The design started as a drawing on the iPad. On the front, the cat peeks up from the bottom of the bag in its hood, under a round, friendly wordmark and windows of the treats themselves. The back tells the Popcat story, lists what goes into the treats and ends with a QR code and the line Rise and Pop.

The Popcat bag being drawn on an iPad with an Apple Pencil: the wordmark, treat windows and the cat in its hood.

From the screen to the shelf

Then the bags became real. They were printed, then filled with treats and sealed by hand, and I filmed the whole journey, from the first line on the iPad to a table full of finished bags. The first critic was a cat.
